The recently renovated Essex Inn is an intimate hotel located in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue, across from Grant Park and Lake Michigan. Our hotel is within walking distance to downtown shopping districts and most major museums.

One of the focal points of the recent hotel renovation is the Garden Pool and Fitness Center on the fourth floor rooftop. The large pool is enclosed with a retractable glass enclosure that offers year-round swimming in a comfortable environment with fabulous views. The heated floor is comprised of stamped, colored concrete that simulates the appearance of natural slate stone. The pool terrace extends onto the rooftop garden and is softened with the addition of an exotic Brazilian hardwood deck that overlooks Grant Park, Lake Michigan and Chicago's famous skyline. Surrounding three flowering pear trees in custom-lit glass planter boxes in the garden are 25 species of perennials and ornamental grass. Lounge chairs and seating make the garden a great respite.
Adjacent to the pool and sauna is the new 1,350 square foot Fitness Center with a large selection of equipment including treadmills, weight machines, and free weights. Six televisions complement this expansive facility.
The Savoy Bar and Grill in the lobby serves continental fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After dinner, light fare is served in the Bar until closing.

Rooms The rooms are large and appointed with yellow/green bedspreads & drapes and wooden furnishings, contemporary in design. Bathrooms are small. Restaurant The restaurant serves American cuisine and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is popular with the local neighborhood. Exterior This is a modern, high rise building, with steel and glass construction. Lobby The hotel has a medium sized lobby with marbled walls and comfortable contemporary styled furnishings.
